Hey guys,
I'm looking for a CPU upgrade for my system:
---
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit-Version (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130104-1431)
AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 630 Processor
6143.238MB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 7770(VRAM 3822 MB) 8.17.0010.1172
1680x1050 Resolution
---
I recently upgraded my GPU to the 7770 and now I'm looking for a good priced CPU to accompany it.

Any help appreciated.

Most likely your current AM3 socket motherboard will not support a CPU upgrade worth investing in....

An old 125W AMD Phenom II x6 1090 would be the best you can get, and that's outdated already....

And that's not even guaranteed to be supported by your old motherboard, as your current CPU is a 95W and that Phenom is a 125W.

Plus, for $200 it's not worth it...

Newer 3rd generation Ivy Bridge Intel Core i5-3570K is $230 and a much, much better processor.

If you want to buy a new motherboard, I suggest upgrading to Intel Core i5-3570K with an LGA1155 socket, Z77 chipset motherboard. Total cost under $350.

You gaming PC will perform much, much better than with any AMD processor.
