hello i got a new power supply then i changed the psu and my motherboard ,when i first made these changes the computer shut down before the white line could finish moving to the right of screen to load windows, i turn the computer back on again it goes straight into bios safe mode and its high lighting the cpu for some reason ? before i could finish read what it says it shuts down again ,i turn it back on again again this time theres no picture but it still shuts down within like 20 seconds , i even tried it in a different plug in the office.

So my question is does this sound like the psu is bad i saved my old psu incase the new one did not work ?

could it be the cpu is not installed on this board or may not be fast enough for this board,i also saved the cpu i can put the older one in aswell. this is actually the same board i had before

one thing more to consider is
but the power supply unit the newer one i installed does not have the 4 pin connector for the motherboard just the longer strip so that could be a concern.

so let me know what this sounds like so i can fix this computer thanks

Most likely you have a 8 pin connector for the mother board. Take a look at the connector. It may slide apart into 2, 4pin connectors. If not Newegg has a cable that will take care of this. Atheana Power offers it, # M84M84F. This will divide the cable into 2, 4 pin connectors. You will only need 1 of the 4 pin connectors for your board. Newegg's part number is N82E16812198024. Link is below. Hope it helps.

Thats strange that your new power supply doesn't have a 4pin connector at all. Thats probably why you are experiencing the problem you are facing. What power supply(ies) do you have and also what pc specs have you got?
