ok so heres the dealio,
i had xp on my rig (asus m3n78 pro motherboard, 9500gt gpu, amd 6000+, 120gig sata, 1tb sata), and i was having boot issues that were bearable but a pain in the a** so i installed windows 7 home premium, along with all of my necessary drivers. welllll then my audio didnt work, i can only hear loud stuff like music on max volume VERY softly like i cant make out anything im just lucky to be hearing something, and i have downloaded several drivers, including 5-6 different audio drivers, googled my way to a dead end, 3 different chipset drivers (they were all for my board just different sources and some different verisions). and NONE of that changed anything. i do have my A+ certification as well as others and i am very IT savvy i go to school for this so please dont respond with "did you plug it in" becuase i checked that over a course of 3 days, i use a program called everest and here are the nitty gritty specs on my pc if it helps, 10 points to whoever solves my issue becase i have never run into this before so im in need of a ton of help. specs are below.

Reinstall the OS. I think it will solve your problem

Shows in Win7 32 or 64 bit, a Realtek driver that is the same one. Not sure if you tried that but there ya go. Uninstall all of the others and remove the device from device manager then reboot and install, reboot again. Windows might even pick it up and install it correctly.

Try going to Control Panel > Sounds > Playback - right-click the devices that are there and check Show Disconnected Devices and Show Disabled devices.

I'll just assume you've looked at the mixer and nothing is muted.
