My son yanked the usb plug, from an awkward angle, from the computer and pieces from the USB receptacle on the CPU went flying. It is trashed. Any idea on how to replace it. This is not the device you plug in, rather it is the female side on the PC itself. Thanks in advance!

if it was the front ones, yes. if it was the back ones, they would have to be unsoldered from the motherboard and new ones soldered on. You can usually find replacement plugs for the front one online, or at ebay

Go purchase a USB 2.0 PCI expansion card, they have as many as 2-4 plugs in them. Or, you if you have a USB receptacle that is still good, you can get a USB router and put it on top of your computer desk for easy access.

If it is the kind that is just a plug and it attaches by wire to the motherboard then yes it is easy. If it is attached directly to the motherboard, don't bother trying. Just buy a usb pci card and plug that into the motherboard. You will have the advantage of more usb ports and possibly a faster version if the old one was 1.1.

This would depend on the location of the USB port. If it is integrated on the motherboard, forget it. Otherwise it should not be too difficult to replace. You can always add a PCI usb port card to add additional ports.

Just go out and buy a USB 2.0 card, they're like 30 bucks or something.

You are probably going to have to buy a USB card to replace it.

They are pretty cheap to get. I'd suggest USB 2.0 to stay up to date.

most reasonably modern motherboards have extra usb headers
