Question:
Good gaming computer?
2008-03-10 18:03:57 UTC
I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I do play games that catch my eye.

What I am looking for is a computer that is great for gaming, one that doesn't lag. I would rather have a PC than a desktop because it just fits my style. I also want one that doesn't lag and isn't too slow, something everyone looks for in a computer. The main thing I want to point out is that I want a computer that I can find in a popular store, like Circuit City or Costco. Sorry, I'm a bit ignorant of building computers so that is not an option.
My budget is to $1,000.

You can only get a good decent gaming computer online.

The ones in the store are all home and office computers. With an exception of the gfx card. Which will probably an 8500 gt or under.

If you want no lag and all on max, your going to need to spend more than 1,000 dollars. I'd say about $1400.

Just get a cheap AMD dual core based PC from HP like the a6350z for $699. It comes with everything (LCD+OS) and if you want to play more intensive game go add a discrete graphics card? DIY gives you a far better gaming experience for less though :( That a far less dodgy PSU and better quality hardware ....

Darth's Cheeky Little Gamer DIY

AMD 4800+ dualcore = $85

ECS A770 AM2+ = $50

you can get a good gaming computer for $1000.

it's hard to say what's good... just make sure it doesn't have integrated video (has its own video card). get at least 2 GB of ram in it. Most processors for sale today will do decent for gaming. If it has an actual sound card and not integrated that will help a small amount as well.

I built a Dell the other day online for fun for a little over $600 that I believe will do a decent enough job with games.

The Sims is incredibly relaxing. It takes up fairly an excellent style of your laptop memory yet its astonishing. additionally video games like Sonic and super Mario are good. however the Sims is my general :D
