Attempting to install call of duty black ops my computer I had to install couple times before I got it working. during the installs my computer would sometimes freeze, then I would have to force a restart by killing power an start install over. I eventually got it installed but later on while playing I noticed my computer very laggy so I restarted it. Now it will load the bios and come to the screen vista has recovered from a error blah blah blah. When trying to start it normal it trys to start but gets a quick blue screen before ever making it to the login screen and restarts. Trying to load it in safe node it freezes at Avgidsvx or something for a few seconds then restarts. I put in the windows vista upgrade cd and attempt to recover and repair but it can find a operating system. When trying to re-install windows it stops and claims "windows setup could not reinitalize the deployment engine". Any help would be great feel very trapped and frustrated. Type this ony iPhone sorry if it's hard to read...

Most likely your computer was freezing because either the program specification were not met or you had other things going on at the same time that slowed the install process (virus, aintivirus software, other background applications and services)and or you had corrupt files, second your os is most likely corrupt because you shut the computer off during the freeze process by killing the power it had no chance to close important file/s and registry/s it was accessing which in turn may have corrupt them, this would explain why you are not being able to use vista upgrade disk to fix this issue, the vista disk may identify the os and other information by reading the exact file/s registry/s that got corrupt by the abrupt power lost. Your option would be to obtain a full os disk and do a fresh install most likely repair disk will not work.

I did a quick search on your error-message and it seems to have something to do with your harddisk. Try installing windows vista and when the setup starts delete all partitions on the harddisk and create a new partition, format it and install windows in it. (keep in mind that deleting a partition wil make you loose the data on it) replacing the hdd by a new one might also work.

here some crude system-setup guide i wrote (maybe it can help you to get a sleeker system if you for instance use "the ultimate troubleshooter"):

some further searching told me that maybe the formatting done by the vista installation dvd (a quick format) isn't good enough (take a look at the second link in the source section for more details). The quick format wouldn't be sufficiant to repair some bad spot in the partition being formatted. So you would have to find some way to do a full format using a utility that can do that. Of course in this case buying a new hdd should in all likelyhood still fix the problem also, or maybe create the partition to install windows in in a different place on the hdd that doesn't have that "bad spot".

Hi There,

That is a tough one to figure out. I do not think it is anything serious and would recommend taking your computer to a repair shop where they have the tools to diagnose the problem.

Hope this helps,

was your call of duty black ops legit?? if not its probably a virus

you can also try booting up from an external operating system like linux. after booting up, you can wipe your entire hard drive and start fresh.

another problem would be that you don't have enough space on your hard drive. when windows starts it uses some memory and installing call of duty black ops probably took up all your space.

try taking your computer to a computer repair shop.
