So I have this HP desktop computer that I have for about 1 year and it is to slow for video editing.I use the comnputer every day for video editing.

My spects are AMD Athlon 2 X3 445 , 4GB RAM and 1TB hard-drive . I'm thinking of putting it on ebay and getting a new computer.Well price is not a problem and will spend 1,500 on a faster new computer .

My question is how much faster will new computer be ? And is the AMD Athlon 2 X3 445 any good than say intel i7 ?Or did I got a low budget computer?

The Athlon 2 X3 is more on the low-end side, there are definitely better processors available.

You mentioned you are willing to pay for an i7 - those are currently the most powerful processors on the market right now (unless we start talking about server processors) but they are extremely expensive.

If you want a cheaper processor that is also still powerful then may I recommend an AMD Phenom II X6? It should be well suited to rendering videos.

Next focus on your RAM: 4GB is fine for most people but if you are editing video you need much more than that. You should have at least 8GB of RAM.

Your hard drive is fine, 1TB is plenty of space for you.

Your budget of $1,500 is pretty high, so you should be able to get a very nice computer with that kind of money, especially if you buy a custom computer from a local shop instead of buying a brand-name computer like Dell.

Not even the Phenom X6 1050T can compete with my Core i7-860

That processor is really bad...

You sound like the kind of guy who buys **** prebuilts. "HP". They are so bad...

You got a really low budget computer. A low budget computer would actually be a Phenom 2 Quad 800 series. Those are low budget. Yours is just so bad...

The i7 wrecks your processor in performance
