Are you connecting these 6 computers to a Windows Active Directory Domain (Windows 2000 or Windows 2003)?

If the answer is yes, then you should ask yourself this question: Did I installed Windows Vista Business or Ultimate Edition?

The problem is that Home and Home Premium can't connect (join) a Domain, so if that is the case you will need to upgrade. This is nothing new, as it was the same for XP. You needed to have XP Professional to join a Domain.

If your problem is other like having a workgroup (no server) then you have to check that the Vista pc is receiving an IP address (network card is working) and it is part of the same subnet (i.e. 192.168.1.X). If the computer is on the same subnet as the others you should be able to share files among them as you did with the other XP's.

Anyway, I suspect your question is incomplete to be able to help you in detail. More info would be appreciated on how they connect and what version of Vista you have installed.

Cheers!
