I am in a need to get a new pc. I can't decide whether to build my own or buy an apple one i.e. imac. Here are the ones i have picked

Imac 21.5 inches
I5 ivy bridge quad core
8gb ram
512 mb geforce gt 650
1 tb hdd
Mac osx
Wireless keyboard and trackpad

Custom built pc 22"
I7 ivy bridge quad core
16gb ram
2gb nvidia geforce gtx 680
1 tb hdd
Windows 8 pro
Wired logitech keyboard and mouse
22" samsung led monitor

Well specs wise i know custom built is better. But i love mac os more than win 8 and design of the new imac is stunning. Though imac is not upgradable. Also they both will cost me equal and the imac is baseline 21.5" model. Also i have the option of getting a 128 gb ssd(with 1 tb hdd) and reduce ram to 8 gb instead of 16 gb. So what should i do in this case? I will do internet surfing, videos and movie watching, light photo editing and also light gaming though i have an xbox 360 . Please help!!!

This is really up to you. PC people will say, get the PC, and MacOS lovers will want the MAC.

If you want the best of both worlds, if you're good with tech stuff, then I recommend you make a hackintosh. Hackintoshes are really picky with what parts you use, so you can't just use any video card, motherboard, etc. You can even get a dual-boot so that you can have Windows and MacOS on the same machine without using those lame OS emulator software.

A good site to get started is http://www.tonymacx86.com/home.php

At the site, you'll know exactly what parts to get, etc. and you can ask more detailed questions there and get better answers.

Hackintoshes are a "grey" area because technically MacOS license agreement says you cant make Hackintoshes, but screw Apple. It's their fault for making their computers un-upgradable and making people like you have to worry about problems like this.

Build a customized computer is a satisfactory experience, you have to decide on all the parts you want in your computer gpu motherboard... Purchase a mac i'm no longer definite, are there a variety of packages for song hd movies and editing videos like for windows? I'd buld a custom pc with home windows 7 4gb RAM, Ati radeon HD 6050 2gb and a SSD 512gb this are my desires, I work with editing video on sony vegas, avid studio for enjoyable xD home windows 7 invariably. See ya!

Personally, I would go for the PC - you're getting way more for your money. You would have to really like MacOS to want to go for the iMac. Or really like the iMac design (can't you spec a nice case for your custom build?)

To be honest, for a unit you will be using to surf the net and watch movies (with only light gaming and editing), surely both of these are massively overspec'ed?

The custom pc is hackintoshable.goto tonymacx86.com to do it.you need some unibeast and multibeast thing.imac is just not worth it.you are just paying for the brand than anything else.typed from my ipad, which sucks big time.

You can always install OS X onto your custom built pc.
