The reason why your PC is slow in the begging is that you have so many programs that are pop up to you as it booted up this will help alot in this video about MS-Config:

OK ya you should do start>run>msconfig to help some start programs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atTUWMdzH...

but there are always an chance you have never defrgged your hard drive...all the registry errors and cookies cramped in an full hard drive: this program should help fix her up with any problems it may take an while if it is your first time.

If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working faster. If you using your computer for normal stuff and not gaming. You don't always need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.

First, if you haven't cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

http://www.delete-computer-history.com/what-is-the-best-registry-cleaner.html

2. Clear your Windows cache files, this is your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how:

1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser

2. Click Start, click "Control Panel", and then double-click "Internet Options".

3. On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.

4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the "Delete all offline content" check box , and then click OK.

5. Click OK.

3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:

1. Open your Start menu.

2. Click Run

3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"

4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab

5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.

6. Click "OK"

Other great tip is increasing your virtual memory to simulate more RAM. This will give you a bit more resources for multiple program use or CPU heavy programs.

Hope this link helps. Shows you how to do everything step by step. You should get a least 60-120% more resources and speed

if you follow the tips.

There are MANY reasons for computer slow downs:

a] not enough memory

b] too many programs starting up with windows at boot up time

c] spyware

d] too many junk files

e] too many restore points

Routine maintenance the will definitely help restore your PC's speed to what it could/should be...

1. Increase your Virtual Memory, then

2. Download and run PageDefrg (free tool from Microsoft).

3. Run MSCONFIG and deactivate any startup programs that you DON'T want/need to run at boot time

4. Uninstall any unwanted programs

5. Ensure that you have more than 500 MB's of free space on your C: drive. (if not, it's not IF your PC will crash...it's WHEN your PC crashes). If not, move your Music/Videos offline to DVD's or CD's.

6. Purge all temp folders and internet temp files

7. Run defrag again after all the cleanup you just did.

8.install Registry cleaner and run daily

Use the tool: http://downloadlk.com/themosteffectiveregistrycleaner.htm [if you do not have one]

9. install Antispyware and run daily

thats normal it's jst because when a computer starts up it needs to start up all the programs in the system, if u wana avoid that then change the setting on ur computer so that it will exclude certain programs on startup, because most programs on a computer is rarely used or just delete some programs.

if u wana exclude programs then click start, run trype in "msconfig" then deselect programs.

though if its general speed in a computer then how many program icons, internet cache, number of useless programs, are to count for. if u have a virus protector like norton anti virus that scan EVERYTHING before u open it then u will slow ur computer DRASTICALLY u can just use other nati viruses programs which are smaller and don't slow ur pc.

if u have too many desktop icons clean it up.one trick is too put all of ur unused icons into one folder.

don;t have too many programs running in the bacground.

defragment ur computer at least once a month.

and ur internet cache effects ur computers speed if it accumulates too much so delete all ur internet files, history, cookies once every few days or once a week. at least

I would go through your computer and Remove programs that are not utilized. Most programs (software) will tie up memory resources and load upon startup. You could also get a good registry cleaner software (Regcure is what I use) to clean your registry.

Adding more memory is the easiest way and what with low cost not too expensive.

After reading everything that been contributed, you've been given plenty of things to try out. May I suggest you give us a little history...

Has it always been doing this?

What make & model is this computer?

How much ram is installed in your system?

What O/S are you running?

Have you ever and do you know how to run MSCONFIG?

Have you ever used HijackThis and know how to read it?

Do you understand how to access your CMOS and set it to fast boot?

The answers will help us make a more educated guess as to what is causing your slow bootup.

I don't know how it would be like that, if it's slow at booting up then go to "Start" then "Run". In there type in "MSCONFIG", this will bring up a little box. Go to the "Startup" tab at the top and unpick the programs you don't want to start when your computer starts, if you don't know what it is, I would suggest leaving it alone as it could cause errors.

when you first turn on your computer there are several processes that the computer must go there to check to make sure that everything is as it should be. I would just give it time in the beginning...you could add more memory if you don't like the wait time...

Hi

May be you have lot of softwares installed which tries to access internet at startup, looking for an update, like antivirus, messangers, Hp's auto updater service, Adobe reader, real player etc. (these all are common among every system and are doing exactly the same thing)

If so just open each software and set not to look for an update automatically, instead set it to manual.

Also many of the software run in system tray, just set their preference for manual startup .

Thanks
