I have an HP Pavillion Desktop and it's been showing this prompt for the past few days now. I tried using the diagnostic tools but it said everything was fine. Tried doing a recovery, this prompt pops out again. Tried going to the Boot Menu, this thing pops again. Tried everything, even called up HP for it. They said is much more cheaper to buy a new PC than getting this fixed. I wanna get this fixed because all of my stuff is saved in the computer and i can't get the files because of this prompt. Please help me out.

-Thank You

most likely the boot sector got corrupted so windows doesn't know how to start booting up. btu you data should still be there, unless the entire drive is nucked for some reason. Remove the drive and put it in another computer or purchase an external enclosure which will allow you to use it via usb.

Sounds like its not seeing your drive correctly i.e. bad connection or failed drive:

Check the drive is being detected in the bios correctly if not windows has no chance of booting or accessing the drive.

If its not showing : With the power off and disconnected, remove the pc lid and check all the cables are inserted correctly into the hard drive and the motherboard sockets.

if you have a volt meter check the voltage on the power supply cable going to the hard drive [be careful of static discharge] or it may show the voltages in the bios depending on how informative your bios version is.

Listen to hear if the drive is actually "spinning up" when you power the pc on if not Id say the drive has probably failed.

As suggested you can try mounting this drive in another pc as a slave drive to see if you can retrieve files from it as a last resort.

"Disk Boot Failure" isn't a message you prefer to locate at boot up. There are numerous issues you may do. 1st., you point out which you have yet another device (optimistically with internet get right of entry to). you may create a bootable floppy and upload the report CHKDSK.exe to the bootable floppy. Then insert the floppy into the undesirable device and CD C: and run the checkdisk by employing typing chkdsk.exe. in case you won't be in a position to get right of entry to the C: power in any respect considered one of three issues could be undesirable. the two the partition table, grasp boot checklist, or the no longer easychronic itself is undesirable. in case you do no longer comprehend the above you may take the device to a fix save or bypass purchase a clean HD and deploy it yet you may could format and partition the newchronic and reinstall your working equipment and different utility. IT looks like on your case you may take the device to a repaire save till that's and previous device and not woth the value. As for putting the boot order interior the BIOS you are able to examine that by employing hitting the delete or F1 key after the BIOS runs its startup examine and you will see a row of tabs around the desirable as quickly as interior the BIOS. hit enter on the 1st tab and you may see something like "boot order" and CD could be 1st, then 2d is floppy and final is HDO. to alter the order use the web site up or web site down keys to web site interior the direction of the techniques. you are able to set the 1st as properly as HDO yet then it won't boot out of your CD or FLOPPY till your HD is undesirable which on your case it may be.

You could try mounting the disk on another PC as a second drive and reading files that way.

2 possible options.

A. You could go into the bios and see if you p.c is set to boot from your hardrive.

B. Open up your p.c.'s tower & check to see if all of the cables are properly connected & or inserted.

Buy a hard drive enclosure to put the hard drive in and you can access your files from a functional computer
