so for my pc which is better i3 or core 2 quad?

the core i3 has better technology than the q8400 ... but if you are looking for speed then the q8400 will be better ... also you have a graphics card so no use of graphics clock ... and besides if you are gonna buy the core i3 you will have to change your motherboard and maybe the RAM .. the only reason most people prefer core i3 is because core 2 quads are becoming old and their motherboards are becoming obsolete .... here are 2 links :

the i3 530 will only be better in gaming and that also if you dont have a dedicated gpu but you have an ati 5770 ... q8400 is better for mutitasking ... best of luck ..

There is no different between i3 and quad processor, if you are planning to replace processor you can go for quad processor. but i5/i7 is the best processor.
