My computer's disk drive (E:) is screwed. Is there a standalone program that would do a system recovery without a disk?

Hi your recovery files should be on your D: or a partition drive close down your PC and when you boot up hold down the f11 or f9 this info should be on your screen when you start up the PC when you start and hold the right key it should take you to the recovery page and just follow the prompts

You can find the files that you need to make a disk in your System or System32 folders. Some manufacturers won't put those files in there though. You will just have to google search your computer brand to find out. Does your comp have a recovery partition? You could try that also. Good luck.

Of course, if by screwed you mean the disk is physically damaged, you won't get anywhere.

But if it just a question of a scrambled drive software wise, the other tricks about a restore partition should work (depending on your computer manufacturer and the age (date of production) of your machine)

If you give us the exact model number (or serial number) and make of the machine (written on a sticker - on the underside for laptops and on sides, bottom or back for a desktop/tower), we could give you a more informed answer.

Hope this helps guide you a bit
