I recently just set up a new computer build having issues of not turning on at times and turning off randomly when using it. I replaced the PSU and the turning off randomly issues stopped however it still had trouble where it would turn on when it wanted to. Also it would reset the bios when it did turn on. searching the internet I cam across a gigabyte cold boot issue which sounded exactly the same. I unplugged everything as to only use mobo, cpu and ram with same issues I thought must be cold boot issue and replaced the mobo to an asus one however once I plugged in all the stuff the dram_led is lit up red indicating a problem with the ram however the ram works ok in three other systems and the motherboard can support the ram and settings by default........
do you think it's the ram, cpu or possibly another defective mobo??

Right, for this kind of issue you need to provide much more information. The make and model of your motherboard, if you changed from gigabyte to asus did you replace the cpu? If not, did you reinstall your operating system, what operating system are you using?

To diagnose an issue like this the standard procedure is to unplug all peripherals and components, then plug them back in one by one with a boot each time to see when the issue is replicated. If the dram led is lit up with absolutely nothing plugged in but with one stick in that you have verified works ok on its own in another system. Then your mobo is probably gone. +1 for Zoostorm, the quad core is good, swap out the PSU though, its really loud and obviously get a graphics card if you are going to do any gaming.

You might have set up something wrong. go over everything. and if you want to buy a pc look up the zoostorm they are cheaper than self build pc's and amazing performance
