I am building a computer and i have run into some issues. I have an AMD FX 8150 cpu, a Radeon 6870 graphuics card, and a gigabyte p70a ud3 motherboard. I did a test boot with just those components and it worked fairly well. Then I put it into the case and added the hdd, cd drive, etc. Now it will not boot at all, including when I take all of the extra pieces out. How can I diagnose which part is causing trouble and how can I fix it. (In addition, i came across a part called the 1394 port. Is it optional or required? If so, which cables do i connect to it. I couldnt seem to find any that fit. I do not know the fuction of this piece.)

1394 is a firewire port. Does not affect this. If you tested the build out of the case you have probably not fitted the actual mounting spacers in the case and are now shorting out the motherboard. I hope you are not connecting and disconnecting parts with power connected. Also if you are not careful a dummy build and then moving everything into the case can make it easy to cause static discharge damage to components.

Well the answer to the 1394 is that was the old type network system for modem's in truth now out of date you have not set the BIOS up or you have knocked or dropped the small battery that runs the BIOS because if nothing is happening you have either dropped that small battery of you have pressed the reset button in which case the BIOS now need to be set-up so it will then operate you new computer. make sure the mounting screws under the motherboard are in the right places and that here isn't 1 shorting anything out then make sure the motherboard 12v cable is in right. If all that is right then you might have to swap the ram around try different slots and try the ram 1 card at a time. that's the most common causes of that problem.

Hard to say when you say it does not boot, does it start to boot and bios displays an error, does it just seem like it isn't getting any power at all? Do any fans start to spin a little when you press the power button? Tell us more.
