If you are asking if two separate machines can display information simultaneously on a single monitor, then no. At least not without some special hardware that would effectively split the screen into tiles which can display any video input. You commonly see this with security cameras but it is the same principal.
As previously stated you can also purchase an external switch which will allow you to switch between two different computers using one monitor, without simultaneous display.
Yes. Right now I took a windows 98 hard drive (updated to xp) out of my old computer and put it in my new computer in most computers I have seen there is 2 slots for hard drives. There is also and extra connector so you can hook up both hard drives at the same time.
I have an extra 8 gigs on my computer to store memory or swap files from both hard drives. Its almost like a memory card for a PlayStation.

You can use a multi-port; you can connect your mouse, keyboard and monitor to this box and toggle between the two computers. Running them simultaneous isn't possible.
