Turned on machine and there was no Control Panel in my start menu. Searches turned up nothing. No viruses found on computer. Tech support and others gave several options and none worked. There's no control panel restritions that I can see, and tried the usual options to remove any restriction. An example of the problem is to right click on the desktop to get to Properties, and told to contact the Administrator. I AM the Administrator . Was given new registry info and that didn't work either. Am at a loss. Do I need re-instal XP to solve this problem, or is there some fix you can suggest? Thanks. Rob

Well if all else fails, BEFORE reinstalling XP, why not try performing a restore point before you had this problem?

You don't need the Control panel to get RESTORE

Click on programs, accessories, then system tools, then restore and pick a date when you DID have the control panel.

It should be recovered when the restore is completed.

Open My Computer, it should be listed in there. It's also under settings in Start.
