I have my computer in a cold room, since my parents just finished the upper floor but they still haven't put wall heaters in it (nvm that, it's being done, what is important that is cold room). On Friday night I shut down my computer, went to bathroom, came back and my computer was asking for my logon password. I was like WTF? My brother wasn't at home so he couldn't touch it, and my parents don't know much about my computer nor computers. Then I thought something fell on the keyboard from my table and turned it on so I removed all the stuff from my table, thinking that it may turn on again and spend my money and internet. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night to find my computer "shutting down". I didn't look what time it was since I was half-sleeping but I was looking from my bed straight to monitor. I could also hear that cooler in casing and see the lights on my webcam turned on. The computer was now shut down. I instantly feel asleep because I was half-asleep already. I'm 1000000% positive that it wasn't a dream. My brother was in another city so he couldn't turn it on. Is it acting up because of coolness since I do know that computers don't stand heat or cold. Or is it a nasty virus? I ran a scan with Malwarebytes and Avast! couldn't find anything. This is annoying. What the hell is this?

Computers actually l like the cold. I keep my server room at 58 Fahrenheit. Anyway, check your BIOS. Make sure that "Wake on LAN" is off. Make sure that there's no setting in the BIOS that turns the computer on at a certain time. Lastly, make sure that you're completely turning the computer off, not just putting it to "sleep", "hibernate", or "suspend" mode. In those modes, the computer can wake up to perform automatic updates or antivirus scans.

PS: Last night's activity was very likely automatic updates. Microsoft releases those updates on Tuesdays.

If you have lights on webcam, your not shut down. The webcam is powered by your usb port so if it is on, the computer is on. You may want to invest a few moments to adjusting power settings. Sounds like you have hibernation or power saver going on.

I don't think it's the temperature: if you can stand the cold, your computer can stand it, too.

Since this is new construction, I'd be wondering about the electric power. Perhaps you've got a glitch in the circuit you're plugged in to. Is there another outlet (on another circuit) you can try temporarily?
