Question:
Why are games slowing down when light is present?

My PC is pretty powerful (see the bottom of the page), but in every new game when I go though a place where it's light rendering or something like that, or when something explodes and emits light, the game loses FPS (frames per second) and it becomes laggy. Sometimes, when it's no light, in some places it loses FPS for no apparent reason.

I have a 512 MB video card and with that capacity I should have no problems...or weird laggs.

I updated all the drivers and stuff on my PC but in the end it's the same. Why is this happening? Any solutions, guys? Cheers.

Sorry to say this, but that's not very powerful..

and 66°C is a bit high compared to the 44°C I'm used to

are you sure your friend is telling the truth? I have a 9400GT and it still lags when bombs go off in Gmod.

last thing, because the Gfx card is in the motherboard its probably shared memory so buy a card with dedicated Gfx memory they don't cost to much

Light effects can be quite intensive to render. But that machine shoudn't struggle with them at all.

Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date: http://www.nvidia.com

Failing that, go into the game's settings and turn down/off any graphics options that involve 'shaders' or other effects. By tweaking these, you'll find something that works better.

A 512 meg video card is not powerful enough to run most games! Therein lies your problem!
