when you start ur laptop, there will be a screen that says lenovo or something with some option to press a button(usually Del or F8).press it to enter BIOS settings.

look for anything in the options for "First Boot Device". set it to CDROM and save the settings and exit.

now your laptop will restart, this time dont press the key for BIOS. the cd if placed in the cdrom would be booted automatically.(in some cases u may have to "press any key to load from cd")

and continue the setup for xp

Go into the bios and make sure the cd rom is set as first boot device. Also make sure the boot cd is in the cd rom before you fire up the computer. If there is more than one cd rom then try putting the boot disc in the other one and restart. Don't press delete or F8 at all when you are trying to boot from cd.

You broke it. and you like somebody who has no longer considered it to repair it. :-)) Are you specific which you have have been given positioned the cables interior the perfect way around and interior the perfect connector on the motherboard? What does the bios see via way of disks? Does it see the puzzling disk? Does it see the puzzling disk on bus 0 or bus a million? grasp or slave? It fairly *ought to* be grasp on bus 0 to artwork with the aid of fact the boot disk for homestead windows. If it does not see it and the cable is the perfect way around at the two ends then... some thing's broken. If a 2d perplexingcontinual did no longer restore it... and the wiring is right... then it feels like a motherboard failure. Or is the cable broken? Or did you pass over off some thing significant like the flexibility lead?
