I am somewhat confused, Acording to PC Wizzard 2008 (from the people who make CPU-Z) that i have a processor that supports HT!! i have read that Pentium Ds dont have hyper-threading!
So do i have it or not? and If so, how can i enable it. I Have NOT seen any options to enable it through my BIOS Setup.

I have a: Intel Pentium D 820 (2.80 GHz)
Here is a screen shot of what i saw:

Pentium D's do not support Hyper Threading you have read correctly.

I believe Intel came out with the term "speedstep" for the pentium D's I remember reading about them when they came out and it is suppose to be a big deal~~~~another selling point.

You still hsve an 800mhz frontside bus and it will support 64bit OS's. Hyper Threading is not a big deal really it's just more jargan for a selling point.

The pentium D is a good dual core processor.

a million. HyperThreading is a placing is in the BIOS and may be disabled. 2. No 3. It has no impact on the records. Disabling it fairly is going to probable make XP rather slower. 4. i think of that it rather is better to have it enabled. the only element some shrink in overall performance it fairly is brought about via allowing hyperthreading i'm attentive to, became in an editorial I examine some years in the past that analyzed overall performance of MSSQL and that that they had observed that throughout some eventualities it decreased overall performance. For the traditional consumer hyperthreading will develop overall performance.

All pentium processors that were made after ht was introduced have ht. I believe at some point it has been added to celeron processors too.

The easiest way to find out is to open your Task manager (right-click the task bar and click Task manager) then under processor if you see two processors showing you have HT and it's enabled. If not, you don't.

HyperThreading was a boost in theory but in real life it never proved true...more of a hype. Improvements were noticed only on a few tasks but were insignificant, in certain cases it the performance changes caused by HP was derogatory.

...just my $0.02's worth...
