I've just bought a new computer that the shop said they have installed Windows xp on it. When I start up the computer nothing happens (apart from the lights coming on). Do I have to install the other cd's that came with it (eg monitor installation cd, installation driver cd, dvd driver cd etc), or should the shop already have done this ? If so what is the problem ?

Take it back to the shop. You have a hardware problem. Most likely, something worked loose while you were transporting the computer back to your place. But, as it's a brand new system, the shop that built it should be responsible for repairing it. It could also be defective hardware, like a bad power supply or something. That's why you need to take it back to the shop that built it, immediately.

The shop should have done all of this. I would take it back to them and tell them to finish the job.

It means you pick administrator privileges - while you're actually not an administrator then you are able to no longer substitute this. while you're, then bypass to the administration panel and seem for a putting that facilitates you to alter to administrator and it will ask you for the password (which you ought to understand while you are the genuine administrator)
