Adding more RAM can generally improve your PC performance. Normally you can use RAM from any manufacturer. Check for free RAM slots in your machine. Also identify the type of RAM, say DDR1, DDR2 etc

No you don't have to use dell ram from dell you can go to newegg or tigerdirect and get ram pretty cheap. Just open your case and there should be a number on the motherboard type it in google and see what ram you need. Then find it on newegg and you can save allot of money. If you really don't want the hassle then i would just buy from dell.

no, not at all. Just google your computer make and model and get the memory specifications, like what type and max you can use. You can find that at dell.com also. Depending on how old your CPU is will decide how much RAM you can put in it, put xp only supports 4Gigs of RAM. You only have to know what type to put in it, manufacturer doesn't matter. You can change various things in the xp to make it faster, but upgraded your ram will make the biggest impact.

It is unnessary to buy a dell ram ,i think if you buy a single ram ,it will be very expensive.Just a general one will be ok .
