I know theirs way I can respond or add anything after I post, so I'm gonna be as detailed as I can because I really need some help

ok.. I have a emachines 3507

http://www.emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=W3507

and I been upgrading my system for the past couple of months. within limit (cash being the main issue).

my system came with a 512MB module = Total Ram 448 MBs

I eventually added to that with a 1 Gig = Total Ram = 8 hundred and something MBs (I dont remember)-(2nd module not being recognized)

Added a new video card = Total Ram = 1.00 GB

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4353968&sku=G458-8406

I couldn't figure out why only 1 gig was showing when I clearly had 1.5. Then I noticed my system supports support "dual-channel memory" so I Added Another gig (the exact same 1 I bought before (from crucial.com) to replace the 512 MB module. and yet...
= Total Ram = (STILL) 1.00 GB

according to everything I read, my system should be able to handle the ram I added with no problem.

http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/viewscanbyid.aspx?id=03C3A72431D926C3

I even made sure to take extra precaution not to damage them. I switched them to make sure it wasn't just the one gig module that was the problem. I made sure everything was tight and connected. And still nothing.

Can someone please give me a little help because I have no clue what the problem could be

There could be a few reasons for this. 1. you have a bad stick of ram, 2. turn off the amount of memory used by the onboard videocard in BIOS. 3. you might have to obtain the latest BIOS for your Motherboard as sometimes not always compatible with different ram. (check ram vender list) from the manufacturer. Make sure you unplug the system from the mains when changing the ram. since you have purchased a new videocard you should now see ALL the ram once you have been into BIOS and turned off any usage for the onboard VGA.

I had a similar prob when I increased RAM, it initially detected the extra 1GB then stopped. I took it back to the PC shop & all that had happened was it had come out of the slot/connection. So re-check it's fitted properly, if it's a bad RAM stick it should be under warranty. Good luck.

Hi there,

What I want you to do is go to Start > Run > MSCONFIG > Enter > Go to the Boot tab > Advanced Options > Make sure the box that says "Max Mem" is UNCHECKED.

If it's already unchecked, feel free to send me an email.
