IMGBurn is free and will burn data files to a cd, or dvd... Your DVD player must have the capability to play avi, if it has the divx or xvid trademark on the player or in the manual it will play dvds with the compressed AVIs...

There are also several DVD players on the market that have USB ports that accept thumbdrives/USB memory sticks, and AVIs play from USB 2.0 memory sticks. Some LCD TV also have USB ports and some will play AVI's from usb sticks look for the divx or xvid trademarks...

The older Philips DVD players would let you use a external USB hard drive formatted to fat32 and use a USB hard drive formatted to fat32 for hard drive movie support...

I have given you a link for a USA only divx or xvid player, read the reviews carefully...

You need to use video converter software like AVS Converter or sililar and convert the file to native VOB files which are what is found on DVD disks. However some DVD players can play AVI files...MPEG is another format that works on many...check your player instructions to see what formats it supports.

Get a video converter (such as Anyvideoconverter - there are better ones, just Search "video converter" on Answers, but thats not your question) and convert it to a format you can use with DVD burning software - Windows comes with "Windows DVD Maker" already installed, and it works pretty well.
