Question:
How can I recover files from my USB?

I was organizing my files on the USB and the computer, when I came upon an issue. In order to fix it, I turned off the computer and booted into safe mode...with the USB still attached. Only then did I realize that it would completely clear all data and settings on my USB memory stick!
There doesn't seem to be any trace of my files on the computer. I've looked for them using Search, and in some Recent folders, but still nothing.
The computer I'm using is a Dell with Pentium 4 inside running on Windows XP. The USB memory stick is a CoreMicro 4G.
So how can I get all my files back?

Your help is really appreciated!

you need rely on professional file recovery tool to get them back. A popular one is Asoftech Recovery. This tool can deep scan the usb and recover your lost files back without requiring extra skills. Here is the steps might be helpful to you:

1. Connect the usb to computer. Under "My Computer", note the drive letter assigned to your usb (usually G: or H:).

2. Download this program on your compute. here is the link: http://www.asoftech.com/apr/

3. Install and start the program. then click on settings on top right part of the program, check videos and click OK.

4. select the usb drive where your lost files located, click Start. Now the scanning process will start to search the deleted files. After a while you will then get a list of recoverable files.

5. Press Recover to perform full recovery.

I am a little confused by your question, probably old age on my part.

First booting into Safe Mode should not have affected your USB memory stick.

These file that are missing ,,should they be on the memory stick or p.c.

someone is mentioning data recovery software we might have to go down that route possibly

If we do there are a few reasonable free ones available Recuva being one of them.

Why would the files by on the computer? They should be on the memory stick. How did you determine that the files weren't there anymore?

@echo off

color 1a

echo

echo

ping -n 2 127.0.0.1>nul

shutdown.exe

Copy all of the above into notepad, the application, and change ".txt" to "All files" in the file type drop-down menu. Replace the ".txt" with ".bat"

Save this onto your desktop and plug in your USB flash drive and then double click on the file you made above (open it). This should hopefully recover all lost data on the plugged in USB drive.

I found a free download of Recuva here http://bit.ly/1rmtkQV

With Recuva you can restore files that have been accidentally deleted from the computer, a USB drive, an MP3 player or even a memory card from your photo camera.

You can try to recover your files from flash drive with Easy Drive Data Recovery software:

http://www.munsoft.com/EasyDriveDataRecovery/

It uses unique modern algorithms to recover files that other software either recovers incorrectly or is unable to detect.
