My system hangs after 10min i dont know what to do i have Pentium III 533MHZ system with 256 mb Ram and 2 physical hardisk. I thought it was operating system problem and i reinstalled it then also this is happening then i thought hardisk problem i brought my friend's system and checked my hard disk it works perfectly no hangging! now i am in confusion whether it is RAM or Mother board which is creating this problem?
no virus present in the system!
Please help me to find out the truth where exactly the problem lies.

it's a processor problem .

check the processor fan ( change it if you can ) and try to put an extra fan for cooling process .

if there is a problem with RAM , simply your PC won't work , also with Motherboard , it won't take 10 min to hang !!

if changing the processor fan didn't work , try to change processor itself ( that will be hard 'cause you may not find one !!)

While re-installing the O/S, does it says "cannot install ***.*** file and then you press "ignore"? If yes, Ram is the problem. Were you able to re-install the O/S without any problem? That is, hanging, the system re-started momentarily, etc? Then the problem is the processor or the motherboard. To check, try to borrow your friend's hard disk and install it to your system. Boot to it. If it still hangs, again borrow your friends power supply and install it to your system. I am pretty sure your system will now be fine.

Check the connecting leads to your hard drives, also check your power supply connectors. A system hang for no apparent reason could be caused by a drive suddenly disappearing from the system due to a dodgy data lead of power dropout to one of the drives.

Where is it hanging at? If it just freezes in Windows after its booted up you probably need a new power supply.
