Question:
Do I have to re-purchase a Service Pack after reinstalling Windows XP?

I had SP3 before, but after I reinstalled Windows XP, the system information states that I no longer have a Service Pack. If there isn't a SP on the reinstall CD, does that mean I need to purchase it again separately?

(Also, does SP mean Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint? I'm assuming it is, since I don't see those programs on the computer anymore.)

Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Service Pack is only for windows updates no Word, Excel, or Powerpoint. If you have internet hookup the service packs will download automatically or you have to go to the windows update site.

Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc are part of Microsoft Office and are a separate product. If you didn't format the drive then Office is still on your computer. If you totally formatted your system then you will have to reinstall all of it again.

Understand service packs are big and take a long time to download depending on speed.

You can download a Service Pack for Windows for free using Windows Update or by downloading the Service Pack from Microsoft's website. When using Windows Update you may be prompted to upgrade the update software before you can download SP3.

Service Pack is free and can be download from microsoft.com

SP = Service Pack = Cumulative updates for the Windows Operation System.

Microsoft World, Excel, Powerpoint = "Microsoft Office" applications

In your Internet Explorer, just click Tools then Windows updates, and let it update. You will need to go back several times (probably) to get all of them...just keep going back, until you get to SP3. THen go back just once more.

The re-updating process will take a long time, but until your computer is fully patched and updated, it is a magnet for virus and other assorted malwares.

Word Excel and Powerpoint are all part of Microsoft Office, which is a separate program which is NOT included with Windows XP. You must re-install Office using your install Office CD that you used when you bought Office and installed it the first time.

And then guess what.... you will need to go to Windows update again and now let it upgrade your Office.

A reformat and re-install of Windows in never easy or quick. Its a royal PITA.

No, just go to Windows Update (there's a link under Start->All Programs at the top. The Service Packs and other updates are free of charge from Microsoft.

Service packs fix known bugs in early versions of Windows XP, such as security issues. They are free to download.

Word, Excel, and Powerpoint are not part of the Service Pack these are just extra programs you can install on your computer. If they didn't come on your recovery CD they should have come on a different CD with your computer.

Service packs are free. You can download them from Microsoft..

No Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint are part of Microsoft Office and you would need to buy that if you didn't already have them but as you had them installed you probably have them on a CD somewhere and you need to instal them again.

You will have to reinstall MS Office if you erased your drive. A service pack is a download from Microsoft and can be done from updates. This is free.

Windows Service Packs are free, you can get them from Windows Update. Unfortunmately, as you have observed, they do not include product installatiions. You will have to reinstall Microsoft Office. I hope you saved the CD's.

You don't have to pay for service packs, but yes, you'll have to download and install it.

And the SP does not mean that. Service packs are like patches for windows, they help it run better and be more secure.

Actually, you don't need to purchase any service packs. Microsoft provides them for free. Try this site here.

http://search.microsoft.com/results.aspx?form=MSHOME&mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US&q=service%20pack%203

Also, service packs are updates for the current OS or things like MO. They fix security issues, etc. It is advised that you download the latest one which is SP3.

i've got dealt with this numerous situations. once you re-put in XP you lost the registry keys and various the serious records. you're able to be able to desire to uninstall and then reinstall place of work for it to artwork. As for the XP actual income, in case you have a actual version of abode windows (and plainly such as you do) i could propose dealing with and doing it. via following the "actual income" technique you and now obtain greater microsoft updates than in simple terms the serious fixes. those comprise utility and hardware updates on your workstation.
