Firestomper probably has the right answer. Also, your monitor may not be recognized. You might need to power down completely, turn your monitor on first, then turn on your computer's power.
Check your display properties to see if Windows is discovering the monitor through plug and play.
Check your device manager to see if Windows is detecting your graphics card.
System Restore rarely works for me either.
It's probably not a problem related to the upgrade, but you probably haven't rebooted your computer in awhile, and something had changed your computer's configuration, and now you're seeing it because you rebooted. So, you might try an earlier restore point.

I would check to see that the driver for the graphics card is still installed. If not , then reinstall the driver again.

Consider this an excellent time to recognize that
your operating system is defective. I recommend replacing
it with one of:
http://fedora.redhat.com
http://www.centos.org
http://www.opensuse.org
http://www.debian.org
http://www.ubuntu.org
http://www.slackware.org
http://www.freebsd.org
http://www.opensolaris.org
Any of these will be more reliable, less susceptible to
viri, uses your hardware more efficiently, and they're
all free.
