You just need to ensure that New RAM is compitible to your computer and its FSB must match with current RAM.
No manual setting is required to be changed in computer as your system is designed like this to accept the hardware changes. although you can change the Virtual memory settings from:
Ok you never want to mix up your ram. All sticks should be from the same manufacturer and have the same bus speed like 1066MHz or 800MHz. Also when you add additional sticks the motherboard will not always run it with the auto settings in BIOS. You will want to ensure it is compatible by checking out your motherboards QVL in the manual. Also check to be sure that that specific type of ram is supported in dual channel with multiple modules. If you install them and everything works then that's great. If you experience freezing issues, you will need to up the DRAM voltage to the maximum listed on the stick itself. You may also need to bump up the North Bridge (NB) voltage a little and adjust the DRAM freq to that of the ram like 1066MHz or 800MHz etc. Most importantly you will need to change the FSB freq to what the DRAM freq is divided by the number of sticks you have. So if you had 4 sticks of DDR2 1066MHz Ram the the DRAM Freq. would be set to 1066MHz and the FSB Freq. would be 266MHz. For 800MHz DRAM freq the FSB would be 200MHz. 1066/4sticks = 266.5 800/4sticks=200. Good luck.

as far as i know, no, you should just be able to snap the sticks of ram into the memory slots and when you boot up and go into your OS it should recognize it. If you go to 4GB of ram or higher I think you need a 64-bit OS in order for all the ram to be used/recognized.

If you computer was manufactured in the last.... 10 years.... no. Just turn the computer on and you'll have more memory. Just make sure you buy the right kind of memory and the right quantity of memory sticks.

that variety of application works extra useful in case you positioned in in on your laptop (btw McAfee stinks, use Karspesky). try Spywaredoctor of a 2d opinion. If it would not artwork use you domicile windows defragmentation application to analyze your puzzling rigidity, it would want to need somewhat cleansing up.
