Question:
GPU Upgrade question?

Hello :)

I've currently got two nVidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti cards on SLI (25% +/- OC on them) on my system...

My chipset only accepts PCIe 2.0 (Intel H57, using an i7-870 @ 3.2GHz as CPU)

Most modern AAA games work fine on ultra on 1920x1080 as long as vsync and FXAA are disabled completely wth the odd FPS drop.

I'd like to be able to experience full ultra on all games, as I used to be able up to roughly a year ago...

So my question is:

- Is it worth upgrading to a GTX 760 Single card? I don't have enough money to spend on a dual card setup, so SLI is out of the question. Or am I better off waiting for the 8** series? If there is a sufficient leap in performance between 7** and 8** I could do without FXAA and VSync for a while longer...

PS: AMD cards are out of the question, I have a highly customized green-hued nVidia-themed case (Call me a fangirl if you wish but ATi just has no place in there..)

Don't worry about the PCIe 2.0 vs 3.0 issue. There won't be a difference in performance unless you are going to start looking at workstation graphics processors, which you can't afford. Nothing can take advantage of the extra bandwith of PCIe 3.0 yet in gaming cards.

I have a GTX 760 FTW (4GB) edition, and it can actually run games on high to ultra settings pretty well. HOWEVER, if you want to get a much better experience with more ultra settings, I would advise that you go for something a bit better, such as a GTX 770.

you can get a GTX 780 Ti for amazing gaming in HD with high settings dont wory about the 800 series

the 780 Ti wont be far away from a gtx 880 and you can SLI it later when the price become good for massive performance it actually get to the radeon 295x2 that is the dual r9 290x

or you can get any of 700 series the gtx 770 isnt bad too or get a gtx 780 for its best price and SLI them later

Good luck
