When i put an icon/move an icon on my desktop, it automatically makes it line up. I can't move any icons to the far right, they have to be placed on the left going row by row. How do i fix this so i can move icons freely anywhere around my desktop? I have a vista. Thanks so much!

Two things you can be talking about, the "align to grid" and "auto arrange"

I will vote auto arrange as it keeps moving them back to the left on you.

- "Align to grid" is nice cause it keeps them evenly spaced but you get to move them around and they snap over a few cm at a time.

- "Auto arrange" sorts them and keeps them side by side, you can "move" them but they stay pushed together.

To enable/disable just right click on your desktop and go to the "view" menu. You will see the two options there.

correct-click everywhere on your demonstrate screen, different than on the icons. % "set up Icons via" and uncheck "motor vehicle set up". in case you want your icons not aligned with one yet another once you re-set up them, uncheck "Align to Grid". after that, you are able to in basic terms drag-and-drop the icons everywhere on your laptop. ^^
