Hello everyone,

Could someone please help me on this as I am really confused about what's the right Power Supply Unit I would need to run this setup without any problems.

My specs are:

CPU:AMD Phenom II X4 B50 3.10 GHz Black Edition,8MB Cache
Memory:4GB (2GBx2GB)DDR2 800 MHz
Motherboard:Asrock N68C-S-UCC
Graphics:ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 1GB,256bit,GDDR3
Hard Drive:Samsung HD204UI 2TB SATA Hard Drive 5900rpm 32MB Cache
Cooling includes an aftermarket Xilence Heatsink with Copper base and Quad Copper heatpipes with a high performance Xilence Fan runs at 7000rpm.
Also has 80mm Cooler Master Case Fan 4-pin
Alumnium Heatsinks attached to RAM modules
Sound Card:C-Media CMI-8738 6 Channel Sound Card
Optical Drive:Dual Layer DVD Rewriter 24x

On USB ports I just got a printer attached and my bluetooth dongle.

My system load is mostly 80%-90% if this information is also helpful for anyone.

I ran an online power supply calculator and when I put my system specs it gives me total of 422w as result.

I am not planning to run SLI or Crossfire in future and I don't do any overclocking either so I just want a good power supply unit to run my computer without any problems.

I can spend up to £80 on the power supply but if anyone can recommend me a good power supply for less then £80 then please do so I will be greatly thankful to you.

Thanks

For what you've described a good 550-600 watt power supply is plenty. Here's one from Corsair:

These are even better:

http://www.ebuyer.com/257232-corsair-tx-650w-v2-psu-80plus-bronze-certified-cmpsu-650txv2uk

Note that better quality trumps higher wattage. A 600W unit from Antec, Corsair, OCZ or Seasonic is superior to a 700W model from a low-quality brand like Casecom, Arctic Cooling, Diablotek, or CiT.

That may be the power consumption that they estimated but I'd go at least 650 watts. The wattage rating of a power supply is what it is capable of providing. Your system will only use what it needs. A larger power supply won't labor so hard also. Go 750 or higher if money isn't an object.

The only answer to that is get the biggest one you can afford.

Maplin have a good range of PSUs

http://www.maplin.co.uk/search?criteria=psu

This one is an 880 W for £69.99 and appears to be right up you street!

Also all equipment only draw the power they need so this 880 wouldn't

even break into a sweat but leaves you loads of room to upgrade.
