and then i dragged it to my desktop like i did before. and this window poped out saying like i have to download the picture so i can view it offline, so i clicked ok
and then the actual picture now is on my desktop, not an icon that contains the picture.

Just change desktop background!

If you have Windows XP:

1. Open Display in Control Panel.

2. On the Desktop tab, do one or more of the following:

- Click a picture in the Background list. In Position, click Center, Tile, or Stretch.

- Click Browse to search for a background picture in other folders or on other drives. You can use files with the following extensions: .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .dib, .png, .htm. In Position, click Center, Tile, or Stretch.

- Select a color from Desktop color. The color fills the space not used by a picture.

Note:

To open Display, click Start, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display.

If you have Windows Vista:

1. Open Desktop Background by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Desktop Background.

2. Click the picture or color you want for your desktop background.

If the picture you want to use is not in the list of desktop background pictures, click the Picture location down arrow to view other categories, or click Browse to search for the picture on your computer. When you find the picture you want, double-click it. It will become your desktop background and appear in the list of desktop backgrounds.

3. Under How should the picture be positioned, choose to have the picture fit the screen, tile, or be centered on the screen, and then click OK.

Note:

If you choose to have a centered picture as your desktop background, you can also have a color background to frame your picture. Under How should the picture be positioned, click Change background color, click a color, and then click OK.

If you have Windows 7:

1.) Right-click on desktop and select Personalize

2.) Click desired theme for desktop background, choose color, and set sounds and screen saver.

That's it in Seven!

well you should be able to right click the picture and then see how it is installed on your desktop. or you should be able to right click and then delete it. I did what you said you did. and the picture was just an icon on my desktop. so you must have installed as an active desktop icon. you can uninstall it.

Try Right Clicking on the Picture. This will open a menu, click on delete.

Just simply put a new desktop picture on it.
