Question:
mac start up problem?
2009-08-03 23:57:50 UTC
every time i start up my mac, i have to hold down the option key until i have the option to select the macintosh partition. If i do not do this, it will go to a black screen and say something about a disk not being bootable.

How can I get the computer to automatically load up the mac partition?????

Thanks.

What model Mac is this? You really need to give more detail so I don't have to type all the crap I'm about to type because you are lazy. Why do I even bother?

Is is desktop? Then get a new battery. There is a battery inside there that keeps track of these kinds of things. Depending on what model you have:

Original iMac, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, generation of same.

First flat screen iMac - one one that swiveled around

Second type of flat screen iMac w/G4, w/ Intel

Screw this! Read the manual. Change the battery. RTFM!

approximately ninety 9.ninety 9% of computers are BIOS firmware. they like a usual MBR partition scheme. Boot Camp Assistant purely works in OS X on a rigidity with a GPT partition scheme to create a hybrid MBR partition. It seems you have a non booting disk/partition being set to boot from.

Strange.

Anyway the fix is once you have used the option key to make it work, and it has booted, go to System Preferences and then to Startup Disk option and set the correct one there by clicking on the working disk/partition.
