A friend of mine is and has been having a problem with his intel motherboard. I took a quick look at it a long while ago when it was not so necessary to have it working properly.

On to the meat:
His board has this quaint fullscreen intel logo branded on it during what would normally be the POST output (where you would get a chance to "press key to boot from CD"), and because of this, he is unable to boot from CD. He's got his own tech-guy who configured his PC, but this guy charges a huge some of money for what should be a 5 minute visit.

His motherboard is an intel DQ965GF, he has boot from CD at a higher priority than anything else in CMOS, but because of the intel bootscreen he can't make use of it.

We need a solution; we need to remove that intel boot screen!

F2 will get you into the bios setup. Just start tapping it as soon as you turn on the machine. In the bio if you set "Quiet boot" to disabled, it will not display the splash screen.

You have to enable the CDROM as a option to boot from AND put it above the HD or floppy drive. Also make sure "Seek other boot devices" is on as well.

You should bet the 'boot from CD hit any key' IF he has a bootable CD/DVD already in the drive.
