Question:
I need a new computer...and boy do I need help!!?
2008-07-17 21:14:07 UTC
This is what I need it for, and how much I can spend.. I tried the websites but I dont know what any of that crap means!

I have 1000, I can spend I want a desktop.

I need alot of space bc I have 5 online classes, so I need a fast computer, I also play alot of games (mainly the sims) I dont do pictures or videos or that kind of stuff only occasionaly and its just taking them off my camera and putting in a folder then when it gets to big I put it on a CD or my Flash. So.. I"m not asking for much just a good reliable fast computer with enough space.. so can anyone translate what GH and GB and MOFO stand for! :) Thanks

*Updated*

Dell Inspiron 530. Visit the site and customise it.

Final specifications:

Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600

Windows Vista® Home Premium Service Pack 1

19 inch MONITOR SE198WFP Widescreen

4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz

500GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)

16X DVD+/-RW Drive edit

Radeon ATI HD 2600 XT 256MB

Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio

Dell USB Keyboard and Dell Optical USB Mouse

No Floppy Drive

MODEM 56K PCI Data Fax Modem

$990 (with a 19 inch LCD monitor)

--------------------------

Just updated with a Quad core, the best proc for a resonable price. And 4GB RAM.

The graphic card could be better but then you can play the sims easily. Maybe in future you could buy a better graphic card to play games like Call of Duty, Crysis, Age of Conan. You can get a 9600GT for $150.

Why wouldnt you want a DVD burner? its just $10 more than a DVD player.

This deal is actaully great. The sims will be happy. ;-)

Email your email to me and I'll give you a list of parts. I'll build you one off newegg and you can look at the specifications. zachtheace@hotmail.com I wouldn't suggest the 530 the processor speed is not all that great. Here are the parts to a computer. Case-houses all the parts. Hard drive-stores information. Motherboard- too much too explain ram- random access memory. cpu- central processing unit. gpu-graphics processing unit, (video card) power supply and cd rom/dvd rom/ most dvd burners are standard now.

I'll look around, and get you some examples. Ordinarily I advise those who want to build their own computers. I gather you're probably not into this! lol! GB stands for GigaByte. Approximately one billion bytes of information. MOFO sounds like you have misunderstood Mobo. Computer geek term for Motherboard. (I use it all the time because it's shorter than typing Motherboard.) GH? Graphics Hardware? Got me on this one. Perhaps you're referring to GHz. GigaHertz. Approximately one billion cycles per second.

KiloByte, MegaByte, and GigaByte are references to amounts. MegaHertz and GigaHertz are references to speed. More specifically frequency speed. All this sound like 'Gobble-T-Goop' to you? I know, I know, my niece with a Microsoft Master User certificate tells me the same thing! lol!

There isn't enough room on here to give you examples, plus information on why I have chosen these examples. I like to recommend computer systems, and computers, based on the 'Best Bang for the Buck' theory, and not how much you can spend, vs how good the computer is. (Sorry about the Run-On!) If you get time, email me, and we'll go over this. Click on my avatar icon, and then email joecoolsvette. Goes through Yahoo Answers, and our emails aren't revealed.

Hahhaha "Mofo"

Anyways, GH = GigaHertz, GB = GigaBytes.

For your situation, I suggest looking for a "Dell Inspiron 530s"

http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-inspiron-530s-desktop/4505-3118_7-32486101.html

It's about 600 bucks, and it's basically perfect for you. about 235GB of space, which is great, 3GB of RAM (which is awesome for gaming), and these weird thingies I don't know about (I'm only 14, lmao), called Dual-Core Processors, but apparently, they make opening up more than 4 - 5 programs a lot faster.

Anyways, yeah, it's a really reliable computer, it's what I use, and everything's preinstalled, so as soon as you get it, you plug it in, and then you just keep clicking next until it's all yours.

Any questions, just IM me
