Is it worth completely reinstalling Windows from 32 bit to 64 bit? I usually do a lot of gaming on my computer and wondered if it would be a noticeable difference in performance seeing as I have more than 3G of RAM and a CPU that is 64bit compatible.

My specs are:
Motherboard: ASRock 880GM-LE motherboard
CPU: AMD Athlon ii x2 265 (3.3 GHz)
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 5670 1 GB ddr3
RAM: 4 GB ddr3 RAM
PSU: 420W
OS: 32 bit Windows Home Premium

Thanks

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES. The problem with 32 bit is that it can only use 3.2 gigabytes of RAM, even if you have more installed. To fully unleash the power of your computer and its gaming potential, get 64 bit! With 64 bit, you can get as much ram as you want!

I would suggest no, you wont see any significant gains because only a small amount of RAM will be gained, and that will be offset by the higher requirements of the 64 bit system. Either version would be OK for that machine, so it's a lot of work for no good compelling reason.

As mentioned, if it's not broken, don't fix it.

Only reason I would switch is if you intend to add more RAM. Then you are going to NEED the 64 bit, and you just have to do the reload.

Yes, it would be worth it. 32-bit can only use up to 4GB RAM total, system RAM or VRAM. This means that in order to use your 1GB GPU, it can only use 3GB of system RAM out of the 4 you have.

With only 4GB of ram, not much point in re-installing 64 bit Windows. You cannot "upgrade" from 32 bit to 64 bit, you must do a full re-install of Windows, then re-install all your applications.

Seeing how most triple A titles of the last 2 or 3 years require a 64 bit version of Windows. It's sort of weird that that you don't already have it. Then again you're rocking a CPU from 7 years ago as well. What games are you playing on that thing? With those specs you're certainly not playing modern titles.
