Hi, I got a Aspire 5720Z and all randomly it turns off. I don't know the reason for this, but i think it has something to do that it gets very warm quite often, but does it have a built in turn off, when it gets warm? And one final question, when i turn it on, and after the first loading screen, it says Reboot from a CD or DVD or something like that, but i just have to wait, and then it starts normally.... any helP?

You most likely need to clean your fan and vents, it`s the most likely cause for it switching of randomly, especially as you say it gets very warm.

As for the boot order, you may or may not have a bootable cd in the drive.

I doubt it, unless the message is "press any key to boot from cd"

I wouldn`t worry about that, your boot order must be set to boot from cd first, this may be an advantage to you, as if you ever need to boot from a cd/dvd you won`t need to go into bios to change the boot order.

You may be right on the auto-shutdown: the CPU has a built-in temperature sensor that shuts off the PC if the critical temperature is reached.

Check if the fans are spinning and if there's anything blocking them. If one (or more) fan are blocked, you won't be able to use the laptop for long before it shuts itself down.

About the "reboot from CD": do you have a bootable CD in your drive? If so, when you boot you'll be asked to press any key to boot from CD, or wait "x" seconds to boot regularly. Just eject the disk and it'll be fine.

PC or Laptop randomly turns off is usually a Heat or Power issue. Heat as when the sensor detected certain components have exceeded normal working temperature, so the computer switches itself off in attempt to protect the device. Power as either the Power supply failed to supply stable current OR capacitor failure within the Laptop itself.

So there's no absolute answer to this question.

My advice is: try to figure out where the air goes into your laptop and clean the tunnel with a Air Duster. If that helps then it will more likely to be a heat issue.

right click my computer icon on desktop (Hope u have xp or vista) select properties, advanced tab, system startup, uncheck automatically restart under system failure section. (If u have a problem with the fan, may need to be replaced.) If u do this, and your system is doing it cause its getting TOO hot, unchecking box will cause it not to turn off and your motherboard WILL fry. Only try it if fan is working.

Second part about reboot from cd, is a setting u may adjust from bios. At start may say press f? to enter bios, u may be able to change to start first from hhd, or hardrive and change it back if u need to start from cd or dvd later like if u have to format and reinstall everything from your factory restore cd or windows cd or dvd. Careful with that overheat thing. they have free programs to monitor temperature in computer. before u take off warning and restarting stuff, check to see if your system is overheating if it is dont disable restart. P.s. Maybe u need an updated version of bios for your system from the manufacturer. (Ok to go up, I would never go down)

Clean the vents and openings with compressed air. I would suggest getting a laptop cooler pad. I have one and it keeps 10-15 degrees cooler.

properly any restoration any further is going to value time and funds and intensely lots hit or omit. before everything i might examine the cpu temp and see regardless of if it truly is over heating - you will get carry of application to visual show unit this or take the fringe of so it cools much less perplexing and see if it fixes it. next could be to swap the skill grant Then swap the ram
