How would xubuntu run on my pentium 3 800mhz 320gb ram 40gb hdd?

Also clamav is good ? What programs can i download on linux. Give me advice about cd burner. Is virtual memory going to make my pc faster ? is 3d analyzer good

It will run ok but not a speed demon.

Clamav is not needed for linux but will catch windows malware.

Xubuntu comes with some good burners and more are available for free download.

Download the iso and burn it to a cd. You can test drive it (run it from cd) without installing it.

Note: it will run faster installed but you'll be able to do almost everything that the installed version would.

I have a second drive with Ubuntu 9 installed that i dual boot to. Clam av does Ok, not very automated. CD burner is built in. No idea about 3d analyzer. Lots of free apps available. Virtual pc lets you run windows apps in ubuntu.

Install it without XWindow and you will be fine......
