I'm not really a computer hardware person. I understand how some stuff work but not everything so anyway. I want a new computer. I was going to build one however, I found a cheap goodish computer in the sales. To save time and mistakes I thought I will buy it.

I had a look at the specs and found out it runs on 64bit Windows 7 Home Premium. Which is good as I run really big programs. (Like C# and C++) Also I am thinking about doing some pc gaming.

Then found out the RAM is only 3GB. I know 64bit will run on 3GB RAM but I'm not sure if this would cause any problems running big programs. I have had a look and found out that 64bit likes to run properly on 4GB+ RAM. I am thinking of adding more RAM at a future data but not just yet.

So can anyone tell me if I will have problems running big porgrams/games on this computer?

Another thing is that there is no way it will connect wireless to my router. So I have been thinking if I put in a wireless pci adapter into one of the free pci slots would it work? Or is there another way/better way to do this?

A wireless PCI adapter would be a good way to add wireless connectivity to the computer. However, if it is near the router, it would be better to just connect it with an Ethernet cable to improve performance.

3GB of RAM is a fair amount. Whether you will have problems depends on what exactly these big programs are. Most software, particularly games, tells you how much RAM it requires in order to run properly. It also depends, for 3D applications, on what display resolution you are going to run them at. Higher resolution requires more RAM.

RAM isn't the only consideration if your running big programs and gaming! the Athlon is a bit older dual core...though it can do the job a Phenom II would be better as would a 4 core! The "on board" graphics just won't cut it for gaming. It looks like some one took and older factory machine, added a GB of ram, (possibly added the 1T hard drive) and changed for the stock windows 32 bit XP to windows 7, 64 bit. Its not a bad machine but if your considering hi end programs and hi end gaming. that's not really the machine for you!...Sorry

utilising an exterior annoying force is so straightforward as plugging it in. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, it provides the force with a sparkling letter (like E:) rather then increasing the dimensions of the C force. so which you will could desire to take a while to head all your information archives (music, pictures, vids, records) from the C force to the hot exterior force. that's a one time element which could take a pair hours. After that, you utilize the exterior force as your well-known place to save archives. you additionally can set up maximum courses to the exterior force in case you like utilising their enhanced or custom set up. Plus you have the strengthen that considering you proportion the computing gadget, you're taking the exterior force bodily with you. You hook it up once you're utilising the pc, and lock it away once you're no longer. That way different persons can expend your force area. including greater memory will make each and every thing on your pc run swifter apart from one element - downloads. the fee in the adventure that your internet isn't desperate via the fee and memory on your pc, yet via the fee of your ISP. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that 512 of memory is low for working XP. i think of you will discover the investment to bypass to a million gb of memory would be greater beneficial than nicely well worth the upward thrust in skill and velocity you will get from the hot memory.
