The OS X update should not erase any data. However, there's always a slight chance that there will be a problem with the upgrade and that may result in data loss. There's a 95% chance everything will be okay, but it's always best to be paranoid and back up anything that's critical, just in case.

I have no idea if these disks will work on your historical pc ... However what you wish to have to do is format the tough force utilizing the Disk Utility. Open Disk Utility, decide on your primary disk (the highest one, with a reputation like "Hitachi one hundred forty GB" as opposed to a reputation like "Jane's Mac.") seem for the "structure" or "Erase" alternative and go from there. (FYI: this may increasingly require the new owner of the pc to get their possess copies of the set up software... So if you're trying to provide it to a friend or something, maintain that in intellect.)

Your post indicates you messed up iPhone using IOS 6 and you want to restore it. I am a confused as to how you would have restore available much less a user interface of iTunes, when iTunes latest version requires a Mac OS of 10.6.8.

More confused as the latest iTunes version is 10.7 and your post states iTunes 7.1. What Mac OS is being used on your computer? If you meant iTunes 10.7 several lines below are system requirements to install iTunes system requirements.

Also it is always best: 1) to know when upgrading to a new Mac OS does your computer meet system requirements for the upgrade? and 2) ALWAYS run permissions, verify and fix, verify disk via Disk Utility BEFORE attempting to install a Mac OS and/or apps. 3) Create a backup of the computer BEFORE attempting an upgrade or an update for that matter.

ITunes newest version 10.7

Macintosh System Requirements

▪ Mac computer with an Intel Core processor and 512MB of RAM

▪ OS X version 10.6.8 or later

▪ Safari 4.0.3 or later

▪ 400MB of available disk space

▪ Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store

hi gautam a, wow as mush as i hate to say it yes all will be gone because you will be replacing your partition when you install i do declare. but what happens if you want to keep that old data i recommend that you take your old hard drive out and take it to a copy company and ask them to take everything to disk then when you are installed and everything is ready to go just copy on your knew install and still have the copied information that you got from that company. but did you know that mac computers has a weak partition to begin with so if you notice that a lot of the data is missing go to clock and date and if they are wron than you need to use the tuneup diskett to reinstall all of your drivers then readjust the time and date then redownload what you had before the error this is the way to fix this problem. good luck i hope i was helpful to you
