GTX570 vs newer card (ultra vs ultra). Is there a visual difference or just FPS variation?

Hey everyone,

So this question has been on my mind for a while now. I own a beast GTX570 which smashes every game that has crossed it's path. Lets use Battlefield 3 for example. My 570 can run the game on complete Ultra settings at high fps (Looks sweet). Now lets compare the 570 ultra performance to the ultra performance of the GTX 780 for example. I know there must be many technical differences but regardless. When I think of the ultra setting, 'best graphics achievable for the game' comes to mind. So as long as the 570 can run ultra settings smoothly there should be no difference in visual appeal?

So basically what's the difference in BF3 from the 570 ultra vs 780 ultra. How long do you think until I should 'really' consider upgrading my card?

ultra and max settings are 2 completely different things >.>

max would mean also to max the AA, tessellation and ambient occlusion.



Even a gtx780 cant max crysis 3 at 1920x1080 (not even a titan can for that matter).



But using TXAA instead of MSAA isnt much of a noticeable difference in looks, but a HUGE different in performance. MSAA is just up scaling/over sampling the image which is very demanding, TXAA uses alot of optimization at the cost of image quality, but you really cant tell much of a difference.

So technically max would be running the max on MSAA.

But BF3 is becoming dated now. Crysis3 is what you should look at for future games like BF4.

And that means soon, you wont be playing on ultra anymore with a gtx570 at 1920x1080 unless you turn off filters and etc things.



As for games you can already pretty much run on max settings, no there wont be any difference in visuals.

There would hardly be a difference so don't replace it. Just probably extra FPS on the new card.
