For modern gaming, d most important specs r processor(CPU), graphics card (GPU),& RAM.

Make sure ur mobo can support ur:

i) processor,

ii) type of RAM (ddr2,ddr3,etc)

iii) graphics card (a 512mb ddr3 would work fine, dont get ddr2)

iv) power supply to support ur GPU

Since i'm using intel cpu & nvidia gpu, i'm not sure bout AMD CPU&GPU.

For acceptable gaming experience, higher RAM & processor speed means better performance. Also, for gaming, u should use Windows XP SP2. Don't use Vista, as it uses up too much memory (u need to upgrade memory just to get acceptable performance).

Windows XP can support max 4gb RAM.

Look for d GPU speed (eg: 650mhz, higher is better) & ddr3 (again, higher's better) when looking for GPU

I'm using Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8ghz (different frm Core Duo/Dual Core, as these 2 r d lesser CPU), 2gb RAM Corsair ddr2, 9500GT 512mb ddr3 GPU (entry level gaming GPU) & I'm playing BatmanArkhamAsylum, Far Cry at high settings & no lagging!

ps: My system is a moderately cheap built for normal gaming. & d 9500GT uses only d standard 500W power supply unit. Didnt go for Quad Core as it costs more..

These specs are far short of "Perfect." Are you prepared to spend $4000 for a perfect gaming computer?

First of all, check out the articles on the new i5 processor on Tom's Hardware Guide. It may be the ideal combination of budget and power for you.

Also, wait just one month until October 22nd when Windows 7 comes out. It will blow away Vista! Don't get a "coupon" for an upgrade that might not work.

For building a PC, especially one for gaming, you should shell out a few bucks for "PC Gamer" magazine. Each month in the hardware section in the back of the magazine there’s a current recommendation for parts to build a system. They give a dream system for those with deep pockets, a medium system that should work for most games, and a budget system for those with limited resources. They also have reviews. The best thing would be to find it at the library where you can look over the back-issues to see the articles and reviews of hardware.

Latest game as in crysis?

Probably not

Why only 2gb or ddr3.

The specs overall seme crummy, only 240gb? How old is this?

If you dealer cant give you a model for mobo it probably is a noname that sucks. Seing how the overall specs are kinda bad-I wouldnt buy it.

I got a gateway lx6810-01

quad core q8200, 9500gt-not as good as yours, but better overall performance. You would probably want at least 4gb ram to run vista + games

It really depends, but I wouldn't call it perfect. What exact "ATI Radeon" are you getting? What exact Athlon is it?

More importantly, what PSU is going to power it? Does the case support plenty of case fans and have a good design for in-case airflow which will keep the system nice and cool?

There's a lot more information needed, but basically, no.

a QUAD CORE like i7 quad @ >3.0ghz wud be gud

ram is better of about 6 gb DDR 3

HDD soesnt matter for gaming, though its speed does @7200 RPM is gud

Radeon well 5870 is gr8

and POWER SUPPLY u missed.. cooler master 1kw or 850w is gud enough

the stuff i've written wud easily run crysis on full detail... so good enough it seems

ALSO cooler master cabinet is gud, with highest efficient cooling!

also a good LCD monitor would be good.. LOOK AT LOW RESPONSE TIME and HIGH CONTRAST

its high quality could maqx out maximum issues. And sure it is going to play BF3 merely high quality on especially much maxed out, who knows perhaps even maxed out is in all probability. perhaps in case you overclock the gpu a touch. yet all in all an stunning gaming build
