sometimes a memory dump will just happen in the middle of working on a project. How do I fix this? Or are memory dumps a serious problem with software, ram, cache, memory or hard drive? I installed a new hard drive, and this problem started happening off and on since I installed SP2.

Yes! A memory dump is very severe. You might have a severe spywayre or hijacker on your computer. Your best bet is taking the computer in for a look or completely rebooting your computer to new.

Check the CPU fan. Also blow out any dirt in the CPU heatsink & fan assembly. Check the other fans as well, there's at least one in the power supply and may be one or more mounted to the inside of the case.

Reseat all cards and memory sticks after you've blown out all of the dust and dirt inside the machine.

Knowing the exact error message on the screen when it crashes would help in identifying the culprit.

Make sure that you clean out your history on the Internet Explorer, every day, other wise your computer gets too full, & slow.

You can also go to start, & click, go to programs, click, then go to accessories, then down to system tools, & in system tools there is a a DISK CLEAN UP, AND DISK DEFRAGMENT, try to do that every couple of weeks.

You can go to http://www.microsoft.com/security/partners/antivirus.asp to find out which anti-virus & anti-spy software works with your SP2

We have found out that McAfee doesn't work with SP2: Webroot SpySweeper, and Alwil Avast Anti-Virus does work with the sp2. we have both of these programs, with no more problems.

Try installing some anti-spyware softwares and then run it, if it continues then take it for a complete system check up.

Well, It happens when you change the hardware stuff!

You may spare this problem by reinstalling the OS.
