Question:
Why are PC users so jealous of Mac users?
?

You go on any Mac vs PC video on youtube and it's nothing but childish, nasty, hateful comments directed at Mac users and Apple products in general. Like Apple sucks, they're overpriced, people who buy them are stupid, blah, blah, blah.

Everyone I know who has ever owned an Apple product has had nothing but great things to say about them.

Mac Users Vs Pc Users
2016-03-30 05:28:22 UTC
A large portion of these answers are extremely biased, even me to an extent. I have always been a PC user, and have always made sure I build/buy a quality computer. The reason most Macs are so expensive is for this same reason, their computers are quality made and will more consistently give you better performance seeing as how they are owned by a single, well known company who focuses on quality. PCs don't have this luxury, so even if you save money you could be getting a low quality computer.

Macs are also more intended for working, not gaming and things like that, which is why you will almost always find a strong processor in them. So they pretty much have that area of the market cornered, whereas PCs are trying to target the casual user, gamer market, which is far bigger.

But to answer you're original question, it's not jealousy most people have for macs, but people judging the users decisions for paying hundreds of extra dollars on a mac that has the same hardware as a PC equivalent, along with the fact that many people do not like the OS and Apple in general. .

You assume jealousy, but that's usually not the reason. If I had lots of money to waste, I'd buy a high-end PC.

If I hated Windows, I'd run Linux as main OS.

I have used Macs for years at work, and I'd never get one for myself.

I regard the pricing of Apple products as a very successful scam, just like organic food.

I'm not jealous in any sense of Mac users.

Plus, I know from experience that for lots of people, design is an important factor when it comes to buying electronics. Also, it's very hard to spend $1000+ for a computer and later admit that you don't think it was worth the money. It's simple psychology: the more we invest in something, the harder it becomes to acknowledge it was a mistake.

These are the main two reasons that Macs gained a cult-like following.

Finally, youtube comments are the lowest form of intellectual discourse there is. Don't judge a huge group of people (PC users) by their bottom third or whatever.

The problem is misinformation put out by "reliable" sources and spouted as a defense to show that their Windows machines are superior. If you present them with the facts, they will not believe you because that would mean that they were wrong and their equipment was inferior.

I've actually had self proclaimed Windows experts sit in my office and spout off about why their equipment is better.

It always comes down to two things:

1. Their computer cost less. I then post the prices for a comparable quality and spec HP versus a Mac and they get to see that the HP actually costs MORE than the Mac. If they say that they have the same specs, but much lower cost, I always pull up the data about life expectancy of the "cheap" model and compare its price multiplied by the number required to last as long as a single comparable Mac. I also mention how usually they get to start over with the new machine because the old one lost all of their apps and data!

2. They have many more programs and games available than Mac. Of course, when I ask them how many text apps, or graphics apps they need and which major applications do NOT have both Mac and Windows versions? They never have a good answer.

Usually their defense comes down to the number of games available. At that time, I will usually ask them which games they mean and crank up Windows 8.1.1 on the second monitor of my Mac and ask them if they can use Mac apps on their Windows machine like I can use Windows apps at full speed on my Macs? My final comment is about how much they enjoy having MS looking over their shoulders at everything they do on their computers. That usually gets a "huh" and then when I explain about the way Windows "calls home" constantly (and Windows 10 is even worse than the older versions) they deny it., because MS wouldn't do that to them like that's a really good defense!

I've been building PCs for over a decade; I have nothing to be jealous of. I can get exactly the hardware I want and manipulate the OS to do what I want without needing approval from Steve Jobs' ghost to do it and while paying 20-30% less compared to an Apple product.

If I get frustrated with Apple zombies, it's because they don't understand that what they're buying is not innovative, powerful, or special and hasn't been for years. But then I remind myself that Appleism, like voting for Donald Trump or being a Scientologist, is not a rational decision, and it's best that I just leave them alone.

Your question is loaded, but those guys costs a lot and I find nothing to be envious about Mac users except they have the dough to throw on a "computer". And it backed on the wrong hardware last decade and switched to Intel. As a consequence of that Macs can be used as PC machines with Apple logo. Twice of the machine in a way, though they are of at least twice the price.

To buy a mac is plain stupid. for the same price you get much better computers. Like if you want to show off that you have money just make a desktop pc with very high specs. I bet you can get a computer that are like 5000- 20000 dollars easily. Also some of the gaming pcs are around that price.

Apple sells inferior p[products at outrageous prices. I can't stand Apple. You spend $2,000 on a PC through them, you get a $800 PC and pay $1,200 for the Apple logo! Let's break down what a $2,000 PC should look like on paper VS what Apple sells for $2,000!

1CPU: Apple sells their PC with a 3.6GHz i5, I can build a PC and include a 4.0GHz i7

2. RAM: Apple gives you 4GB of 1066MHz RAM, I can include 32GB of RAM properly clocked to the Motherboard

3. Storage: Apple gives you either 500GB or 1TB of storage on a 7200 RPM HDD, I can provide a 250GB SSD, and a 2TB HDD running at 10000 RPM

What does this all mean, it means that I can build a PC that is 3 times faster for the same price because Apple charges more for the Apple logo than the hardware!

I am not jealous of a MAC user. They are sheep who are brainwashed to think Macs are better. You pay twice the price for a machine running Linux (a free operating system).

I am not jealous of Mac users. In a way, I feel sorry for them. They make fine computers, and I've owned and/or used two Macs in my life (both for work), but they are overpriced, un-customizable (indeed, it is a violation of the warranty), and as such a terrible experience in having one, especially if you value the ability to alter the machine or use it in the way you want. Plus, I can buy a MSI computer, install Linux, and have a customizable computer, that has as good/better specs than Apple with an OS that has a better UI experience than either Apple or Windows. Again, if you can afford a Mac Book Pro, and do not want to do anything to your computer, then more power to you. To each, his or her own.

All of us become more comfortable with the tools that we are comfortable with, and soon

comfort and familiarity can become necessity. This is considered 'normal' in religion, where no

Baptist considers a Catholic to be altogether sane, and vice versa, and no Moslem considers a

Christian a safe friend, with some reason, these days. That's why these foolish arguments over

operating systems and text editors are so often called "religious wars"; they're not grounded in

sanity.

Well I myself come from an IT background and I myself don't dislike the product itself in fact I quite like Apple products I've used their tablets and phones. I'm still a Windows fan / Linux more Windows. The reason I never liked Apple hardware is because Apples whole ethos has been "point to point" IE you can't touch add manipulate or alter any part of their hardware. And I like to build computers and upgrade them and alter them to my like Windows and Linux OS / hardware allow for us to learn and develop Apple products don't allow for this.

Brand loyalty is one thing but when the brand is charging you a fortune for something worth £10 its not loyalty it is stupidity. That's the equivalent of a woman constantly returning to a man who beats her up and I apologise if that analogy offended anyone.

You can build a Windows machine ten times faster and more capable for the price of a Mac laptop. And when people go on about stability they fail to mention the point Apple software is built for Apple hardware. Windows and Linux software is built for hundreds of different HDD's, Motherboards and sound cards. In other words flexible.

I don't hate Apple but I don't feel a need to bend over and get wallet raped for something I can get for a 5th of the cost.

So, making false generalizations, taunting, or insulting isn't being childish? I bet reflecting on why you're acting like that would help answer your question for you.

My wife and I have owned several Apple products, including a 2011 iMac, we still don't like them, but she has to use them since she's in the art business. Apple products have their place, but aren't for everyone.

I suspect you don't know very many people that use Apple products if you can truthfully say everyone you know that owns them loves them.

My bet is the majority of the people making those posts are dumbass kids. Adults don't typically have those kinds of conversations. The "Ford vs Chevy" type of arguments died in high school. Both Mac and PC have their place. Pretty sure no one is jealous of the other.

lot's of answers......... i was a procurement and component engineer at ibm and lenovo for over 30 years and understand hardware very well......... obviously also i have had software use experience.........

"jealous" is a term only used by mac owners, 'cause a cult love of the systems does not understand and few users of computers actually understand the hardware.........

first, a person has to separate desktop from laptop from other system form factors.........

then, you have to separate operating system and software supported from hardware.........

and price has to be factored in despite the fact that mac owners ignore it generally.........

the current mac desktop-towers are high end servers and priced that way.........

the laptops as macbooks are the same basic parts as any other laptop......... the operating system is different in structure......... you compare a macbook to a comparably priced windows laptop......... macbook starts at about $1000.........

apple does everything possible to hide its specs......... current macbooks are not upgradable at all......... even replacing the battery is a royal pain.........

a macbook for its high price gives you a thin stylish metal shell, a decent cpu, varying graphics performance, a good keyboard and trackpoint, and reasonable audio......... excellent battery.........

it has a nice package of software included, but a lack of freeware in general.........

first two year reliability is excellent......... it degrades after that as fast as any laptop.........

macbooks at the price are not suitable for gaming......... the ultra-high resolution display takes high graphics performance to drive it and not much leftover for gaming even if a macbook pro 15.........

macbooks never included bluray, never went touchscreen, never went folding and flip, were late in introducing usb 3 and hdmi......... they expected external signal conversions as needed.........

people keep their macbooks longer, but a lot of that is based on initial price......... technology advances each year and holding a laptop has it falling behind.........

web content is generally low resolution......... movie content is mostly low resolution......... photographers like macbook.........

high end graphics of macbook pro is amd radeon r9 m370x with 2 gb gddr5 memory.........

rank #109 i7-4770hq and i7-4870hq are two cpus offered.........

gtx 950m at rank 76 is much better.........

i7-4770hq @ 2.........20ghz 8949

i7-4870hq @ 2.........50ghz 9372

macbook initial spec upgrading is expensive.........

asus at $800

asus n550jx-th72t gaming laptop 4th generation intel core i7 4720hq (2.........60 ghz) 16 gb memory 1 tb hdd nvidia geforce gtx 950m 2 gb gddr3 15.........6" touchscreen windows 10 home 64-bit 1920x1080

15.........10" x 10.........00" x 1.........10" 6.........00 lbs......... 59watthour battery

macbook pro 15 $2000

macbook cpu is 10% stronger.........

macbook display is much higher resolution

macbook graphics processor about equal at proper

macbook has much longer battery life

macbook has 256gb ssd in custom m.........2 form, asus 1tb spinning drive

($85 ssd vs $50 hdd)

$1900

gigabyte p35xv5-sl3 laptop 6th generation intel core i7 6700hq (2.........60 ghz) 16 gb memory 1 tb hdd 256 gb ssd nvidia geforce gtx 980m 8 gb gddr5 15.........6" windows 10 home 1920x1080 ips panel

Well most people hate mac users, because most people hate apple?

why? well the list is far too long to list, but some examples

-stifle innovation by taking other companies/their competition to court as a business too (usually over dumb things. such as ANY phone or tablet that is rectangular in shape with rounded corners. 100% not joking, they took samsung to count for that to delay the galaxy S3 release. and it worked for like 6-8 months. they have a huge portfolio of bad lawsuits just for the sake of messing with their competition)

-they dont invent anything, but always say they invent things. they take already existing products, make them a little better, then say they were world first lol. (they usually try to sue whose designs they used if they didnt have all the patents)

-they outsource EVERYTHING to china. (granted many companies do a lot of that), but apple is one of the worse offenders. not only is literally every single part of apple products from china, their factories they get stuff from have some of the worse conditions (sweat shops are nothing in comparison. many people have literally committed suicide working for apple in china)

-They promote wastefulness by using advertising tactics and such to keep people to upgrade their devices every year or 2. just recently they publically said they sad that people are using pcs, mac and other devices for more than 2 years, but said very arrogantly. like the only people who keep devices longer then 2 years are poor trashy people.

list goes on infinitely lol

And as far as apple products, they are overpriced hardware. you are paying for nothing more then the mac operating system and the brand name. they use the worst motherboard known to mankind (foxconn), people talk about apple quality, but dont seem to understand one of the main components in it, is the cheapest trash money can buy lol.

their batteries and screens and aluminum casing/shells are good quality though (but paying $3k for should be made with the best of everything you can manufacturer :/)

most people compare $500 laptops to $3.5k macbook pros, and say pc are low quality because of that. well if you bought a 3.5K pc, it would be much higher quality then any mac on the market lmao

price/performance is no contest. i mean a pc that costs 1/4 as much will out perform it.

as for the mac osx, it is better then windows, wont argue that. windows is pretty trashy (though almost every mac user installs windows asnyway). But on a pc you can install linux. linux is far better then anything mac osx could ever dream to be. its also free and open source. (you could install linux on a mac aswell, but you then are left with nothing but a seriously overpriced pc).

And its totally possible to install the mac osx on non-mac hardware. you can build your own pc and install mac osx on it (anyone intelligent would honestly do this. you would get a far better performing mac pc for less. and a lot of people do that)

ALL apple products are completely locked down. (i owned a 3rd gen ipod touch. you couldnt even change the background wallpaper without jailbreak. think they added that in ios 6.0+ lmao. but i mean really? you cant even change the wallpaper?). though they have made lots of changes since then, all their devices are very limited and locked down. a jailbreak is 100% necessary to just USE an iphone/ipad. like its completely un-usable device without it.

They are also locked down on a hardware level, you cant replace or repair any of the hardware yourself. you have to pay apple outrageous amounts of money to fix it, to the point you are almost better off buying a new apple device lmao

Next is a lot of mac/apple consumers are arrogant douchbags/hipsters (same people who buy beats headphones....) they go around with this arrogance that mac is a superrior platform. when its clearly not at all. its the same thing that people who play on consoles (ps4/xbone) that think their consoles are superior to pc for gaming. no, they are not in any way. But its the same ignorance, stupidity and arrogance that many mac/apple consumers share. and that drives people carzy.

also many apple consumers refer to non-macs as "pcs" and say things like "macs are better then pcs". not only is the sentiment wrong, but the entire statement is wrong as a whole. like its not even a valid opinion. thats because a mac IS a PC. (back in the early 90s, macs were different from pcs, but for a very very very long time now, they use identical hardware. a mac is a pc). which anyone claiming this, is just an idiot.

lastly, most any apple consumer is a brand loyalist/fanboy. they buy products just because they are apple and for no other reason. that just scream that they are an idiot. there are non-mac users who are the same way. such as those who only buy say nvidia products. those people are not any less of an idiot.

EDIT:

Im not saying you cant like a certain brand or use them all the time (i honestly love corsair products), but i dont buy corsair products JUST because they are corsair. i do my do diligence, and research products before i buy them, and the product that fits my budget, and has the features/quality i want i will buy it. if someone other than corsair creates something i like better or for less cost, i would switch without thinking about it at all. and thats what any intelligent human being should do. stop falling prey to marketing tactics.

and yes people buy certain brands to show off. and yes macs/apple works for that. there are crowds who will eat that up. (generally the less intelligent ones), but many apple consumers overstep their boundries and try that with anyone who is either well informed or any tech/computer enthusiest know apple products are nothing more then eye candy (same with say alienware. no one who knowledgable and into tech/computers will buy an alienware... they would build their own pc). so same thing someone flaunting their crappy alienware in front of other peoples faces who know them to be ****. what kind of response do you expect? they are going to call them a fking idiot. (and from the flip side, people owning alienware will prople say/think "oh you are just jelous i spent 5K on my pc and you are too poor to afford that)
