I Can't Run Windows after Upgrade?

Question

I just recently upgraded my computer and i am now unable to start Windows XP. My computer boots up fine but then it gives me an error saying that it is unable to start Windows.
I am currently on my second computer.

These are the things i upgraded:
Motherboard
Processor
RAM
Graphics Card
Power Supply

Does anyone know an error in the hardware setup that would cause my computer to boot but not run Windows?

Dozens. You have essentially made a new computer. Windows has no idea what HAL or drivers to load. You need to reinstall, you can try to 'repair' the existing installation, but no guarantees.

You've made too many changes to your system.

The short answer is to run setup from the winxp CD, hopefully a Repair job will get you going, but you could end up having to reinstall xp.

Hopefully some other guru can come up with a less painful solution, but....



One final thought try pulling your new Graphics card out and restart with the old graphics card. You may be just one step over the line instead of a giant leap. Should this work get everything else working then go back to your new vid card.

i have just recently had a new motherboard.processor,ram and power supply etc and it didnt have any problems like you are having.from what problems i did have and been told from the technical services it could be that you may not inserted the graphics card etc properly but if you have a warranty on it then it is best you ring their customer services.not really sure you should be trusting the advice of novices when it comes to tech stuff,especially on the level you are asking!

whoa whoa whoa, hold up. you might have to format. but get your stuff off first! its gone after format! download and burn a free linux thing and use it to boot from CD then copy all important data to a USB drive

after you change the motherboard you have to reformat the hard drive and reload windows because different boards use different drivers and you now have the wrong drivers for your new board
