A i5-4690K is very little faster than a FX-8350 in other applications, but much better for video games. The price range is about the same, with intel having the lower power consumption (it would take a few years before you make that money back).

A i7-4790K is a tons faster than any* FX CPU.

Both are MPU's of outstanding performance. For either, I recommend the Antec® TruePower® Quattro™ 1200 for sufficient power reserves for two graphics cards.

The Advanced Micro Devices® FX-8350 (Socket AM3+) is an eight-core MPU specifically built for discrete GPU's (such as the Radeon® R9™ Series) and a perfect match to the 990FX chipset. Be sure to get a Noctua® NH-C14 CPU heatsink and augment it with dual Akasa® AK-FN063 hydrodynamic-bearing PWM fans for this MPU to keep it cool - AMD® six- and eight-cores tend to have low maximum-safe temperatures (in the case of the FX-8350, 58°C).

The Intel® Core Processor™ i7-4790K (FCLGA 1150) is my recommendation for your system - as a four-core/eight-thread APU with a built-in HD Graphics 5000 video controller, it consumes 10% less power than the FX-8350, matches perfectly with the Z97 Express Set™, and is safe to 69°C. It will also drive discrete GPU's commonly needed for the most popular game softwares.

Both will drive DDR3-2666OC main memory (on or around 2.3VDC at the memory modules, vs. 1.35VDC JEDEC specification) with the recommended chipsets; design default is DDR3-1600. With full-size ATX 'boards, audio cards such as the ASUS® XONAR® Essence™ STX II (C-Media® CMI8788 DSP) and Creative Laboratories® Sound Blaster® Zx™ (SoundCore3D™ DSP) become an option.

Budget might be considered , the i7 -4790k is the better processor, if don't have the money for it then consider the amd fx 8350 great for gaming , video editing , game recording, multi-tasking

I trust Intel more, though depending on what you wanna do, keep in mind that a lot of i5's can be better for you comparatively.
