I have an older computer that I would like to put Vista on but I had lost my Drivers and utilities CD. I would like to do a fresh install, but I don't know how I would install anything like the drivers. It is a Sony Viao desktop. I know i could try to get the disks, but sony told me that they don't sell them I would have to go to a independant company.

You need to check whether your older desktop can run vista. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

Next, you would need to know if there are vista drivers for your older desktop hardware. My guess is no. So that's a showstopper.

Lastly, you'd undoubtedly need more memory. A lot more memory.

You're probably better off running your desktop as is and saving for a new one. Make sure your new one is at least Home Premium, and has at least 2Gb ram.

First of all if you have a older pc then check it first to make sure that you have the ability to install vista.

For vista you will need a lot of space on your hard drive and plenty of Ram and a very good cpu.

If you need drivers first make a folder and name it drivers make a list of what you need and visit the websites downloading them to the driver folder then copy them to cd

First of all if it's an older computer do not, repeat, DO NOT, put vista on it unless it's a really nice older computer. Vista is slow and terrible and whatever its running right now is almost certainly better.

But if you're going to go ahead with it, then you could go to www.sony.com and look for individual drivers (at least you can do it on dell.com).

It's more time consuming and you may need another computer to do it but it works as I've done it on my dell with dell.com

first you need to make sure that Vista will even run on that system before buying anything.

second, you have a system builders install of what ever windows you are currently using, so there is NO reinstall.

Run the Vista upgrade advisor on it before you purchase your new vista licence.
