Ok. You got me into a BIG thing. I LOVE XP because of all the good compatability. Everything works with it! Vista is all right as long as you get Service Pack One which stopped the major crashing problem. mac osx is terrible because well for one, NO GAMES! Then you have all your crashing in different ways that you can't tell when it's going to crash or even if this is a major crash or just a small freeze up. With Windows XP, you can get a virus and have it slow down a freeze up all the time but it still won't crash. With mac os, you don't even have to have a virus for it to just RANDOMLY CRASH!!!!! Well, that's my outlook on it and some facts on mac. Windows XP dominates but Linux is the dog's nuts of Operating Systems. I just wish someone would write something for it...

I view the Mac vs. Windows question as mostly a what do you want to use your computer for question. Windows is much more geared towards business users. Mac is more for the casual and pleasure users. I've used both and really don't see any glaring problems with either. But, if I were the VP of the IT department I would go with Windows. The more I've learned about Vista the less concern I have about it. I'm still an XP user personally and professionally. However I do believe that Windows has fixed most of the mistakes in Vista with SP1. My main concern about Mac is their attempt to force you to use only their own hardware. With Windows you can buy any system or build your own system and run the OS with less hassle

I have Windows Vista and it definitely goods and bads. I don't like the fact that it sometimes doesn't work properly with other programs that came out before Vista was created... But I really like it because it is a lot faster than my XP which wasn't that old when I got the new computer (just by the way.)

They both have their goods and bads but overall i think Windows XP is the best! Vista is too much of a resource hog and some programs isn't compatible with it :(!

@Th3Wh093: Macs do have viruses just a lot less than PC, don't be fooled by the misleading ads

Windows. XP and Vista are both good. OSX is too confusing since I am so used to Windows.

Macs are good but they are expensive compared to Windows...which is why I have Windows.

I'm a PC and I can play more games than a Mac! (without dual osx)

Well first of all thank you for using the term Windows instead of "PC" [which just means Personal Computer, which could be either]. As for your question it all depends on what you're using the computer for. Mac is great for editing music, films and photoshopping pictures and Windows is great for gaming and just running an easy to use home computer. Windows is more popular and you can find more programs, hardware that will help improve you're computer.

"Long live windows"

"They have been with me through thick and thin"

Try out both everyones opinion is different about computers

ps macs do get viruses but its no comparison to how many viruses windows computers get , and when the once in a blue moon event of a virus showing up on multiples macs comes around apple releases a patch right away

It depends on the user really. People like Gamers and web surfer etc... are better off wit Windows. Bands and DJ or music editors would be better of wit Mac.

Mac.

Contrary to any other posts here, Macs do not get virii.

None reported, none found.

There was a report of a single virus 2+ years ago but it never actually did anything to the computer.

They can pass along Windows virii in MS word docs thru email but they will not affect the Mac.

This is like saying which is better Ford or Chevy. You can find people on both sides that will argue til death that their chosen side is better but honestly there are pros and cons to each. Either way you go these days you will be able to do just about anything you need it to do.Go and try them out see which one you like. Keep an open mind and enjoy what each platform offers.

windows. vista. i just use vista becuase it was easy to get a 64-bit version of vista ultimate.

the reason i like windows, is due to me being a system builder, and i like to overclock.

buying a mac fully built. WHERE IS THE FUN IN THAT?!

and that i like using ALT+F4 XD

I'm a pc and i like Yiff, and NvidiaXD

Mac has a better and more friendly user OS, then Windows. However more programs are still made for windows...

Personally I hate OS X. It's cumbersome to use and restrictive. Games are designed for Windows. More software and hardware is available for Windows.

By the way, Macs can and do get viruses. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about.

All comes down to personal preference and what you are planning to do with the computer.

mac is better, no viruses, no crashes, not a pain in the @$$ to set up, and more intuitive software, also the learning curve on a mac is about 30 minutes
